Compression Stockings
Graduated compression stockings are tighter around the foot and ankle and the compression decreases as it goes up the leg. The graduated compression counteracts the force of gravity and promotes the normal flow of blood up the leg.
Graduated stockings are available in below the knee, thigh high and pantyhose. They come in variable degrees of compression depending on the severity of the problem.
Most insurance companies require a “trial of conservative therapy”, ranging for six weeks to six months prior to approving any definitive treatment of your vein problem. This trial period always includes compression hose. This represents an unnecessary delay in the definitive treatment, but presently is necessary for insurance approval.
Although most insurance companies require a trial period of wearing graduated compression hose, most insurance companies will not pay for the hose. You can purchase your stockings from The Vein & Esthetic Centre or we can write you a prescription and you can purchase them at another location.
